Central Florida Corgis - MyCorgi

Know the procedures for the transport of animals

Avianca only accepts pets - dogs and cats - transported in the passenger cabin.

Avianca limits the transport of 1 pet per flight. To check the possibility of transporting the animal, please contact us through the Sales Center, with 48 hours prior to the flight.

After confirmation of the service by Central Reservations, attend to the check-in at the airport two hours prior to the departure time of the flight.

Guide dog

  • The guide dog trained to aid the disabled will be carried free of charge in the cabin of the aircraft on the ground, in a place adjacent to its owner. This seat will be determined by the airline, and the dog must travel with a leash and under the control of its owner;
  • For the animal to be accepted, you must submit the same documentation pets (PETC). There is no limit to the boarding guide dog, if any other animal in flight.

Pet container for domestic animal

  • The animal should be accommodated in a pet container, which can be purchased at specialty stores;
  • The weight of the animal + pet container does not exceed 5 kg. If the maximum weight is exceeded, Avianca will not transport the animal;
  • The pet container must be large enough for your pet to take a complete turn around itself, be hard plastic or resistant fabric with a waterproof, free of bumps or lumps, leak proof and conform to the specifications of maximum size:
  • Dimensions:
    Height = 26 cm
    Width = 26 cm
    Length = 40 cm
  • No need to sedate the animal.

Avianca only accepts pets - dogs and cats - transported in the passenger cabin.

Documentation required

  • Certificate of rabies vaccination for animals over 3 months of age, stating the name of the manufacturing laboratory, type of vaccine and the number of vaccine / vial used. This vaccine must be applied for 30 days to one year prior to shipment (puppies under 3 months and therefore without the first vaccine will only be shipped with express permission of the veterinarian);
  • Health certificate issued by the veterinarian. The validity of the certificate is 30 days from the date of issue.

  • Except for the guide dog, which is exempt from fees, the cost of transporting animals in the cabin is always considered as excess baggage and can not be included in the baggage allowance for checked or hand;
  • The charge refers to the total pounds resulting from the weighing of the animal along with his pet container multiplied by 0.5% of the maximum rate of the passage of the flight.
